Cook & Carry: the vessel that goes to the venue
A product that solves a logistics problem rather than a cooking one — which is why it is built differently.

Caterers have a problem that restaurant kitchens do not: the food has to leave. And the conventional approach — cook in one vessel, transfer to another for transport — costs more than most kitchens realise.
What a transfer actually costs
Every time food moves from one vessel to another:
- 5–10 °C of temperature, instantly, at the worst possible moment.
- A contamination opportunity, with food exposed and being handled.
- Labour, at the point in the day when nobody has any to spare.
- Another vessel to wash, doubling the cleaning load.
Add the risk of spillage while pouring 60 litres of hot gravy between containers, and the transfer is the most expensive step in the whole operation.
What we built instead
The cook & carry range covers 25 to 100 litres and is designed to be the only vessel the food ever occupies: cook in it, close it, load it, carry it, serve from it.
That places demands on it that a stove-top pot never faces.
Jointless matters more here than anywhere
A vessel being carried full is under mechanical load a stationary pot never sees — flexing as it is lifted, shock when it is set down, vibration all the way to the venue.
A welded seam is a stress concentration, and mechanical shock finds stress concentrations. So these bodies are deep-drawn from a single sheet of steel: no vertical seam, no base joint, continuous metal from rim to base.
The same construction as our jointless patila, applied where the loads are higher.
Deep, not wide
The proportions are deliberately different from a cooking-only vessel. Heat is lost from the exposed surface, so minimising surface area relative to volume is what keeps food hot in transit. A deep vessel with a close-fitting lid holds temperature far longer than a wide shallow one of the same capacity.
That is the opposite of what you want when cooling food down — which is why cooling should be done in shallow vessels, and why we make a parath that works well for it.
Handles that expect to be used
Welded side handles, positioned for two people to lift together, and dressed back flush so there is no crevice around them.
Handles are the part of any vessel we watch most closely — they are the only welds in an otherwise jointless body. On a vessel designed to be carried full, they carry the whole load.
Getting the most from it
- Fill it. A full vessel holds heat far longer than a half-full one. If you are running half full, size down.
- Preheat before the food goes in, so the metal is not stealing heat at the start.
- Close it hot and leave it closed. Every opening costs temperature.
- Insulate for the journey. A blanket over the vessel is crude and very effective.
- Check temperature on arrival, not on departure.
